Barbara is originally from Austria and she imported all the amazing traditional Austrian and German cake recipes when she came to South Africa in 1997, so her Topfentorte (Cheese Cake) Schwarzwälder Kirsch Torte will taste just like in Germany or Austria!
Barbara works from home and uses only quality products, unsalted butter, GM-free Eureka Stoneground flour (less refined/bleached), real “Vanilla Man” vanilla extract, and free-range eggs when available, also pure sunflower oil and premium full fat Cream Cheese (Philadelphia/Lancewood) as there is just no comparison in taste.
Everything is baked from scratch (no pre-mixes or other shortcuts) and “just in time” to ensure maximum freshness as far as is practicable. Some examples of German cakes available, but not limited to are:
- Chocolate sponge light and moist cake
- Devil’s Food Chocolate buttermilk-based cake, very dark and very chocolatey cake
- Chocolate Fudge cake, very dense due to oodles of butter and chocolate – a chocoholic’s dream
- Chocolate Banting cake
- Vanilla Bean cake with real vanilla
- Carrot cake, conventional and Banting and gluten-free
- Red Velvet cake

The cost of the German cakes depends on what type of cake it is, the size and the complexity of the design. Barbara can personalise your cake to your preferences and budget.
Barbara prefers to deliver and the delivery charges are included in the price of the cake.
