The German Consulate General in Cape Town has various sections:
The Political section is mainly involved in the monitoring of the political development in the Cape provinces and the close bonds of partnership between the Western Cape Province and Bavaria (since 1995) and between the Eastern Cape Province and Lower Saxony respectively.
The Legal and Consular section offers many services be it visa, passports, answering questions of German citizenship, or any other consular services.
The Cultural section of the German Consulate Cape Town is cooperating with the German and local South African-German cultural and educational institutions to strengthen the cultural relations with the Cape Provinces, including the school and tertiary education sector as well as issues relating to the arts and sports.
The Economic section supports German interests in the economic, commercial and environmental sectors in the Cape provinces and acts as liaison between German companies and public institutions and organisations and private companies.The section works closely with the German Chamber of Commerce and and offers information about Germany as a business location and Germany-related economic questions.
The Economic Cooperation and Development section administers a micro project fund through which local organisations can obtain financial support.
